At a grand event in Mumbai on March 9, Krystyna Pyszkova from the Czech Republic was crowned as the winner of the highly coveted Miss World 2024 title.

The first runner-up title was awarded to Yasmina Zaytoun, Miss Lebanon.

The newly crowned Miss World, Karolina Bielawska from Poland, handed over her title to her successor at the highly-anticipated finale event.

The title of Miss World has been held by two women from the Czech Republic, with Pyszkova being the second following Tatana Kucharova, who won the pageant in 2006.

As stated on the official Miss World website, Pyszkova is a Czech model who is currently pursuing dual degrees in law and business administration.

In her twenties, Pyszkova established the Krystyna Pyszko Foundation. Fluent in English, Polish, Slovak, and German, the model is a proponent of promoting sustainable development through education.

According to Pyszkova’s profile on the website, her most notable achievement was establishing an educational institute for disadvantaged kids in Tanzania, where she also dedicated her time as a volunteer. She takes pleasure in playing the transverse flute and the violin, and has a strong love for music and art, having studied at an art academy for a span of nine years.

Sini Shetty, a 22-year-old, represented India at the event after a gap of 28 years as the host country.

Shetty, a native of Mumbai, was awarded the title of Femina Miss India World in 2022, but did not secure a spot in the top 4 finalists of the competition.

Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra Jonas (2000), and Manushi Chillar (2017) are the six winners of the esteemed title from India.

The 71st edition of Miss World pageant took place at the Jio World Convention Centre in BKC, with representatives from 112 nations competing.

The final round of judging was conducted by a panel of 12 members, including renowned film producer Sajid Nadiadwala, popular actors Kriti Sanon and Pooja Hegde, famous cricketer Harbhajan Singh, well-known news personality Rajat Sharma, dedicated social worker Amruta Fadnavis, Vineet Jain who serves as the Managing Director of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Limited, Julia Morley, the Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organization, Jamil Saidi, who is a Strategic Partner and Host for Miss World India, and three former Miss Worlds, including Chillar.

The event was hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar and former Miss World Megan Young. It began on a positive note with singer performances from Shaan, Neha Kakkar, and Tony Kakkar.

At the event, a video message was shown featuring Chopra Jonas emphasizing the significance of ‘beauty with purpose’, which is the tagline for the Miss World pageant.

During the unveiling of the song “Sakal Ban” from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar”, the entire cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Sheikh, made a grand appearance on stage alongside 13 Miss World contestants.

Throughout the month-long Miss World event, a range of challenging competitions were held, such as talent displays, sports challenges, and charitable endeavors. The main focus was to showcase the exceptional qualities possessed by these participants, who serve as advocates for positive change.
