77-year-old Trump has frequently mocked 81-year-old Biden for his age and cognitive abilities, which is a worry for American voters as the biggest democracy in the world holds a re-match between the two rivals on November 5. This concern was highlighted in a recent article discussing Biden’s age and his potential as the oldest serving US president.
At the Gridiron Club dinner, a longstanding Washington tradition dating back to the 1880s, Biden joked about the presidential candidates, stating that while one is deemed too old and mentally unfit, the other is himself, according to Reuters.
During the dinner, which was attended by more than 650 guests, Biden expressed his thoughts in the presence of notable figures such as Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, Amazon founder and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos, and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.
The Democratic Party’s nomination for this year’s presidential election has been secured by Biden, who has recently achieved this feat. Despite concerns about his age, he has reassured that he is capable of running for the White House again.
At the time of writing this story, Trump’s campaign did not provide a response to Biden’s comments.
Previously, Biden has been ridiculed by Trump for various occurrences such as mispronouncing words, making gaffes, and stumbling on stage or steps due to losing balance.
