Glimmers are mini moments of delight and comfort, these tiny sparkly moments of joy bring us a sense of comfort helping to calm our nervous systems. And they are necessary to our mental well-being. The relaxing feeling we get when we gaze into the sea or that little moment of happiness we get when a baby smiles and waves at you is what scientists call as a ‘glimmer’.

Experiencing glimmers:



Glimmers are minute but significant experiences that happen during our day-to-day activities. Glimmers vary from person to person and are personal.

Let me list out a few examples.

  • A walk on the beach
  • Admiring the moon
  • Walking barefoot on grass
  • Sipping a hot cup of coffee on a rainy day
  • Hugging your loved one
  • Randomly listening to your favourite song somewhere
  • A small act of kindness
  • Blasting your favourite playlist in the car
  • Ordering in your comfort food
  • Watching a good movie
  • Glimmers are everywhere

When you consciously decide to focus on the small beautiful and delightful moments, we can lead a much more positive life.
